About the Job
Bright Red Publishing is a multi award-winning independent publishing company which develops and produces high-quality study guides and a unique Digital Zone for secondary schools in Scotland.
As a result of success in a recent SMART Scotland Research & Development grant application, we are recruiting a full time Digital Editor to work on the development of a new and exciting digital assessment resource.
Working closely with our Publishing Manager, the Digital Editor’s responsibilities will include:
∙ Reviewing and updating existing Digital Zone content to prepare it for development.
∙ Working to and maintaining the schedule for delivery of newly commissioned digital content.
∙ Developing commissioned digital content into the correct formats to populate the new resource.
∙ Working closely with marketing and design teams to report on progress and developments.
∙ Liaising between Bright Red and the digital development teams throughout the project.
∙ Any other tasks as required to develop the project.
The ideal candidate for this exciting position will be highly organised with strong communication and diverse digital literacy skills. Candidates must be able to prioritise their workload, meet deadlines and work effectively in a small team.
Essential Editorial/proofreading experience of hard copy and on-screen text. Working knowledge of coding languages, including XML and HTML. Excellent written and spoken English. Good communication skills and team-working skills. Pro-active, collaborative and flexible approach. Good time management and relationship-building skills. Strong attention to detail and methodical approach to work. Ability to keep end-users in mind throughout product development. Working knowledge of Scottish Education system.
Ideal Experience of new product development, especially digital development. Knowledge of publishing workflows. Desire to learn.
Educated to degree level or equivalent
