About the Job

The opportunity
We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic individual to join our busy Production and Design team to work on the Osprey imprint, which publishes across a broad range of subjects including military history, heritage and gaming.
The role
This is a unique role in which you will project-manage your assigned lists from copy-edited MS to manufacture and shipping, and beyond to eBook creation and QA, using a Group-wide XML-based workflow. Key tasks will include project costing, preparing titles for print and digital editions, and print buying. The role also involves a good deal of design work, including retouching images, correcting layouts and artworking some covers.
You will work closely with our in-house Editorial, Sales and Marketing departments, and with external suppliers (onshore and offshore) to ensure that all projects are produced on schedule, to high quality standards and within controlled budgets.
Skills, knowledge, experience
a detailed knowledge of the production life cycle for books
proven print buying experience (mono and colour)
a keen eye for detail (copy-editing and proof-reading skills are desirable) and a good head for numbers
excellent organizational and time-management skills
problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude
IT skills (knowledge of Office and proven expertise using Adobe products – inDesign and Photoshop in particular – are essential; familiarity with Virtusales’ Biblio3 is desirable)
knowledge of XML-first workflows
knowledge of the manufacturing process for games (desirable but not essential)
This is a permanent, full-time position based at our Oxford office: Osprey Games and Osprey Publishing are part of Bloomsbury Publishing Plc.
To apply, please send a CV and covering letter, including salary expectations to Diane Hobbs, Office Manager, diane.hobbs@bloomsbury.com

A full job description is available on the Osprey website https://ospreypublishing.com/jobs
